Mike Siegel is inviting voters to a Taco Town Hall as part of his commitment to having ongoing and open dialogue with voters. Republican incumbent Michael McCaul, who represents the 10th Congressional District, has not held a town hall with his constituents for nine years — and yet he is hosting a private fundraiser with tickets starting at $2,700 and going up to $100,000.

“Republicans like Michael McCaul have put this country on the wrong course,” said Siegel. “They bring in rich donors to raise money for each other while ignoring the needs of working families. It is time for Republicans like McCaul to pay an electoral price for this cynical hypocrisy.”

“This seat belongs to the residents of the 10th Congressional District of Texas and I am running to represent and fight for all voters, not a select few. While McCaul continues to ignore the majority of his constituents and only serve special interests, I am committed to be a champion for all. I’m hosting town halls across the district so I can listen to, and understand, the issues of most importance.”

Background:

  • On April 4, Paul Ryan is holding a fundraiser in Austin (for himself!) with all of his top Texas GOP lieutenants. The invitation was leaked to our campaign team.

  • Mike Siegel is running for Congress to fight for working people, immigrant families, teachers, students, seniors, and everyone whose voices have been excluded from the political process. When elected, he has made a commitment to hold regular town halls (open to all his constituents, whether they agree with his politics or not). And he’s not taking corporate PAC donations or NRA blood money.

  • Trump’s 2016 margin of victory in TX-10 is half of his margin in PA-18, where the Democrat Conor Lamb won a special election. This race is winnable.
